Repair Services - Bench Top Lathe and Mill Motor
Controllers
Gerling Laboratories has established a repair facility for
motor controllers used in bench top micro and mini lathes and mills and table drive
accessories. Most of them are produced by SIEG, however we have added a
controller from KB Electronics.
To help users understand their controllers, we have put together a simple
discussion of each of the three type of controllers we repair. These are
SCR Control,
PWM Control and
SMPS Control.
The following lists the units that we are currently
repairing. While they are not specifically listed, we repair the 230
volt versions in all cases. Please visit the

Controller Ratings - All of these units are designed to control a permanent
magnet DC motor with a full speed armature voltage of about 100 volts (except
the ZZ which is 24 volts) The SIEG model numbers give the rated line voltage and
maximum power out. i.e. the FC350BJ110V is rated for 350 watts at 110V.
The 350 is the power rating and the 110V is the input line voltage. The
XMT-2335 is rated for 350 watts at 230V. The 23 is line voltage (11 would
be 110V) and the 35 is 350 watts.
Interchangeability - We have a few instances of a vendor sending a XMT model
to replace a FC model. While they provide the same function, they are not
directly interchangeable. They have different start logic and the wiring of the
speed control is different. If you have this problem, please write
